Have you ever seen a whale with white patches on it, well if so, you've also seen barnacle. Barnacles are actually very helpful to whales. The relationship that they have is mutualism. They attach on to them and they eat the algae and the other harmful things on them.

Barnacles live on many parts of a humpback whale, from the throat area to the pectoral fins to the tail as seen in this photo taken off of Maui by Andy Schwanke.
